Tebughna Foundation won the Tribal Energy Plan grant!

Tebughna Foundation has been awarded the Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund (TSAF) Tribal Energy Plan grant! Tribal Energy Plan grants help Tribal communities work towards a better environment for all community members by using a comprehensive plan of action as a guide to develop a more sustainable energy future.

Since 2010, the GRID Alternatives National Tribal Program has worked to help Tribal communities across the United States achieve their renewable energy goals, while training Tribal members to enter the solar workforce. TSAF is a Tribal-led philanthropic grantmaking program that supports new solar projects, catalyzes the growth of solar energy, and expands solar job opportunities in Tribal communities across the United States.

To combat the high cost of electricity, Tebughna Foundation, and the Native Village of Tyonek are collaborating to configure a Tribal community solar independent power producer for Tyonek, also known as “the solar farm”. Funding from TSAF will fund our team and contractors as we successfully lead the design, engineering, site selection, permitting and grant funding application for a microgrid solar PV + battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Tyonek

We are grateful to GRID Alternatives for funding TF’s solar program, and we look forward to making progress on Tyonek’s solar farm!
